Silvana "Sunshine" Favre of Kalamazoo, age 81, died on December 19, 2021. Silvana was born January 24, 1940 in San Stino, Italy to Fortunato and Ada (Bordina) Bassetto. A proud Italian, Silvana loved nothing more than sharing stories of her life, especially of growing up in Venice though she never learned to swim! Over the years, her stories became more colorful, but remained entertaining. With her endearing nature, Silvana quickly gained friends. She delighted in conversations spoken in Italian or French. Silvana met her husband while he served in the U.S. Army in France. After marrying, they settled in the U.S. where they welcomed their two children. Her grandchildren brought a special twinkle to her eye. In fact, it was her first granddaughter who gave Silvana the nickname “Sunshine,” and the name stuck throughout the rest of her life. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking and filling her home with delightful aromas, and spending a sunny afternoon tending to her flower garden.

Silvana was preceded in death by her husband, Franco. Surviving are her children: Lora (Mark) Eminhizer and Terry (Claudia Reynolds) Favre; grandchildren: Alyssa (Jon Trapane) Eminhizer, Shea (Tim Bassett) Eminhizer, and Barret Eminhizer; siblings: Loredana (Mike) Dennis and Sergio (Sandy) Bassetto; and nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A gathering will take place at a later date. Visit Silvana’s webpage at BetzlerLifeStory.com to archive favorite memories, photos, and sign her guestbook. Betzler Life Story Funeral Home, 6080 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo 269-375-2900.
