Sara Oliver

Age 73, died at Rose Arbor Hospice on Saturday, February 20, 2021 of cancer, although her general health had been poor for a long time, which restricted her activities. Born and raised in Three Rivers, she was the daughter of James E. and Harriet A. (Herndon) Oliver. She attended Bronson School of Nursing and Western Michigan University and while she completed neither, she worked in health-related fields all her life. Most recently, she was employed as an aide in the WIC nutrition program through the county.

Sara was smart, capable, generous, kind, and always interested in social justice issues. She adored her pets and loved watching and learning about birds. She always looked forward to “playing in the dirt,” every spring to adorn our yard with flowers. She had a life-long interest in classical and folk music, including singing and playing the guitar.

She is survived by her partner, Catherine Larson; a brother, James (Rosemary) Oliver; and nieces, Catherine and Laura Oliver. In accordance with Sara’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral services will be held at this time. A graveside service may be held in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes or a charity of your choice.
