Life Story / Obituary

Print

Age 82, died on January 29, 2021. Jim was born January 5, 1939 in Douglas, the son of Frank and Caroline (Tisdale) Haven. Shortly after graduating from Ottowa Hills High School in 1957, Jim joined the Navy, proudly serving his country as a medic. He later graduated from Ferris State University. Music was always a passion for Jim. He played in the high school prep band. He also played trombone and trumpet for the Scottville Band through his adult life. From the soft melodies of jazzy tunes to the inspirational notes of religious compositions, Jim loved it all. He maintained a vast collection of CD’s, DVD’s, and even bibles. Jim’s giving nature led him to bring joy to many people over the years and he relied greatly on friendships forged many years ago.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother. Surviving are his cousins: Eugene Overton and John Tisdale. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services with military honors will take place at a later date at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Visit Jim’s personal webpage at www.BetzlerLifeStory.com where you may archive a favorite memory or photo, and sign his online guestbook.
