Pat Weber

As all those fortunate enough to know and love Patricia Weber can surely attest, she lit up every room with her beautiful smile and radiant, joyful spirit. She was a constant source of strength and encouragement, and she excelled in finding creative and thoughtful ways to let those around her know just how much they were loved. Pat was happiest when surrounded by her friends and family. Her sense of humor was unmatched, and her heart of generosity and selflessness has touched so many lives for the better. Already dearly missed, Pat will forever be held close to our hearts.

The early 1950s were among some of the most exciting years to be living in the United States of America. The economy was flourishing following the end of WWII just a few years before, and the historic baby boom was underway. In the world of pop culture, The Ed Sullivan Show was a family favorite across the nation while iconic movie stars such as Dean Martin and Marilyn Monroe graced the silver screen. It was during this influential era that William and Phyllis (Caulkins) Rolfe of Kalamazoo, Michigan, were thrilled to announce the arrival of their second child. Their daughter, Patricia, was born on April 15th of 1952.

Pat’s childhood was one typical of her generation, filled with many memories she would look back on with fondness. She was raised in the small but cozy family home in Kalamazoo alongside her four siblings, Jackie, Linda, Dave, and Shari. Growing up, Pat spent a lot of her time at her Grandma Rolfe’s place on Lake Geneva. Her fun-loving grandmother would even playfully push the kids into the lake, even after they’d already put on their pajama’s! Pat attended local schools and met her lifelong best friend, Linda, in kindergarten. The two would remain close for more than 70 years. Eager to see what her future held, Pat graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1970.

It was around this time that Pat met the young man who would quickly capture her heart. His name was Donald Weber, and the two were first introduced through a mutual friend while Donald was fixing up a motorcycle. He was immediately drawn to Pat and worked up the courage to ask her out. After a few tries, Pat finally said yes. The couple enjoyed a first date at Elias Big Boy. With a desire to spend the rest of their lives together, Pat and Donald were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kalamazoo on January 12 of 1973. Donald adored Pat, and he was the calm to her fiery spirit. The two were truly soulmates in every way.

In the years to come, Pat and Donald would welcome their three beloved children into their hearts and home. Pat was a protective mother to Kimberly, Eric, and Melissa, and her kids were the focus of her life. She stepped into the role of dedicated homemaker with enthusiasm. Pat led her children through even the toughest lessons of life with wisdom and a healthy dose of humor. The kids would remember her telling them, “Don’t worry about what people think of you. Do you even like them?”

Although the Weber family didn’t have much early in their marriage, Pat went above and beyond to make sure everyone was well taken care of. Donald mowed lawns to save money. He then made extra money by flipping cars and later houses. Meanwhile, Pat worked at Montgomery Wards and Upjohn for a time. She also gave back to her community by volunteering at the Amberly Elementary school library while her children were there.

Later in life, Pat was thrilled to become a grandmother and even a great-grandmother. She loved doting on her grandkids and leapt at every chance to babysit. Her grandchildren always looked forward to going to Grandma’s cozy home. The holidays gave Pat a chance to gather with family and go all out with her decorating. She would buy enough gifts for everyone to receive an equal amount, and she loved hosting her loved ones for a big dinner. Pat was so blessed to watch her family flourish.

Over the years, Pat enjoyed traveling to Edisto Island in South Carolina, soaking up time on the beach. Shanty Creek was another one of her favorite places to visit. She and Donald would often stop at casinos along the way. In her free time, Pat liked antiquing and shopping. She always had her eye out for a good deal. She enjoyed making ceramic Christmas ornaments and figurines, which she had a great talent for painting. Pat took meticulous care of her gardens, full of lilacs and pansies. She was an amazing cook and was famous for her stews, split pea soup, Rice Crispy treats, and Christmas cookies. All throughout her life, Pat’s cats were her constant companions and even slept right by her head on her pillow. Her most recent pet, Molly, came with her to the memory care units, serving as a source of comfort and love.

Kindhearted, gracious, and generous with all that she had, Patricia Weber truly understood the secret to a life well lived. She was never afraid to speak her mind or offer a piece of advice. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Pat’s family and friends were undoubtedly her greatest treasure. Her example of compassion, courage, and loyalty was nothing short of inspirational. Although she is gone too soon, Pat leaves behind a priceless legacy that her loved ones will be proud to carry on in her footsteps.

Patricia Weber of Kalamazoo, age 74, died on August 29, 2026. Pat was born April 15, 1952, in Kalamazoo to William and Phyllis (Caulkins) Rolfe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; and siblings: Dave Rolfe, Linda VanDussen. Surviving are her children: Kimberly Baughman, Eric Weber, and Melissa (Jeff) Miller; grandchildren: Julia, Sierra, Quinten, Brooke, Bridgett, Easton, Alana, Savannah, Grayson; great-grandkids: Oliver, Miles, River, Holden, Nora, Quincy, and one great-granddaughter on the way; sisters: Jackie and Shari; many nieces and nephews; son-in-law, Bryan Baughman; and 2 special friends: Linda Miller and Barb Schippers.
