Life Story / Obituary

Julia Lynn Delgadillo, age 24, went home to be with Jesus on October 14, 2022. Born November 9, 1997 to Michelle (Spencer) Scholten and Francisco Delgadillo. Julia lived a real and genuine life, strong willed and loyal to those she held close to her heart. Julia lived her life to the fullest, always up for trying something new and making friends wherever she went. As a child it was Girl Scouts, rocket football cheer, dance, volleyball, summer youth camps, fishing, and 4H activities. One of her proudest moments was graduating from MYCA (Michigan Youth Challenge Academy) at Fort Custer in Battle Creek, Michigan and later moving into her own apartment.

After graduation she lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan, then Columbus, Ohio, and finally settled in Cleveland, Ohio. Her family was most important to her, leaving Cleveland at the drop of a hat and driving day or night to “surprise” her mom, one of her sisters, cousins, or friends. If there was an event or party, you could count on Julia to be there. As Julia became ill, those same people she poured her life and love into faithfully stood by her side during her four month hospital stay. A special thank you to Aunt Mindy, Grandpa & Grandma Spencer, and her sister Samantha for all your time and dedication.

Julia’s life verse was Luke 10:19, “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” One of her last words of wisdom was, “If you want to be a true follower of God you need to let go of the past and forgive. You’ll never be able to live a full and meaningful life until you’ve done that. I have forgiven the people who have hurt me because that’s what Jesus did for me.” 8/5/2022.

Julia is survived by her parents: Michelle (Mark) Scholten & Francisco Delgadillo; three sisters: Samantha Morris, Grace Scholten, and Clare Scholten; one favorite nephew, Lucius Morris; grandparents: Carmen Smoke, Ron (Karen) Spencer, Duane (Marlene) Scholten, and Maria Mancia; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Julia’s memory may be directed to Centrica Care Navigators FBO Rose Arbor Hospice, 7100 Stadium Dr., Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
