Jacob Andrew Fox, age 47, passed away at home in Scotts on May 14, 2022. Born in Morenci, MI, on July 3, 1974, Jake was the son of Kenneth and Helen (Geiger) Fox. Growing up in the country, Jacob and his brother, David, were always outside, usually up to something in the woods or around the pond. He raced around on the golf cart until he wore it out. He enjoyed helping to raise goats, chickens, and rabbits.

Jacob graduated from Vicksburg High School where he found wonderful life-long friends, including the principal. He loved playing football all 4 years and was co-captain his senior year. He attended Central Michigan University where he formed more lasting friendships. Jake earned a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Sociology. After a number of rewarding years in social work, Jake turned to a career in sales. With his outgoing nature and love of people, he was a natural and nothing pleased him more than making the sale.

Jake was united in marriage to Jeanette Evans on July 23, 2016. They first met in high school and they were smitten. Though their lives took separate paths, destiny brought them together again and Jacob welcomed the new role of step-father to Jeanette’s children, Allison and Ryan. Jake was their biggest supporter from sports to education. He was always there to motivate and encourage. Jake and Jeanette were members of the Martin United Methodist Church where Jake became active on the church board.

Jacob was passionate about hunting and taught Jeanette how to hunt. He loved riding his motorcycle and they would do bike runs or just ride. He loved music and taught himself to play the acoustic guitar. His favorites were John Denver songs.

Nothing could be better than a day out with family and friends on his pontoon boat at the family cottage on Stony Lake. Many stories will be told and retold of adventures and misadventures on the boat. With his birthday on July 3rd, there was always a boatful to celebrate with fireworks over the lake.

With his outgoing, caring nature and exuberant laugh, Jacob never went anywhere without making a new friend. He lived a life rich in family and friends. He led with his heart and never hesitated to give all he could in support of others. He had the most amazing friends and his family and friends meant the world to him.

Jake was notoriously late, so no one was surprised when Jake and Jeanette had not arrived at his cousin’s wedding. Turns out, they weren’t late. They were just at the wrong wedding! But they did make some new friends.

Along with his wife and parents, Jacob leaves behind his step-children, Allison Baker and Ryan Baker; his brother, David Fox; niece and nephew: Amber Fox (Rickey) and Andrew Fox; grandnieces and grandnephew: I’Talia, La’Varia, and Rickey; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 1-2 PM Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Westwood United Methodist Church with the service beginning at 2 PM. A reception will follow in the church hall. Visit Jacob’s webpage at BetzlerLifeStory.com to archive favorite memories and photos, and to sign his guestbook. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators or Westwood United Methodist Church. Betzler Life Story Funeral Homes, 6080 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo 269-375-2900.
