Gordon John McLeod Evans was born to James and Margaret Evans on July 12, 1959 in the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. So began a lifelong relationship with the Blue and Gold.

Gordon’s school years were spent first in Ann Arbor, then in Chelsea, before graduating from Saline High School in 1977. He initially attended MSU, before coming to his senses and ultimately graduating from the U of M. He then made his way to Oregon, to the Lewis and Clark Law School, and he worked as an attorney for many years. He expanded his scope to support the Oregon Ducks, having a magical moment when he got everyone tickets to attend the match-up of the Ducks and the Wolverines in Ann Arbor in 2007. (A closer final score would have made him happier…) Hopefully there is cable up in heaven, because he’s missing the rest of this season.

Gordon was an accomplished photographer, winning awards and producing photographs as merchandise and art. He had a gift. He was a long distance runner in his earlier years, a consummate cat lover and an incredible baker and cook. Cheesecakes were his specialty. He was funny, always having a quick take on a situation to crack everyone up.

Gordon was proud of his accomplishments, but his two daughters, Ainslie and Caitlin, were the joy of his life. They were always in his thoughts.

Medical issues came up, making everyday life a challenge. He tried his best. May we all have that said of us.

His last full day included sharing a bottle of his favorite Schramsberg champagne with his sister, Eileen, outside in a peaceful grove of trees. It’s about as good as a last day could be.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Lindsay Evans Millemann, and his nephew, Toby Millemann. He is survived by his daughters, Ainslie Carys McLeod Evans and Caitlin Margaret McLeod Evans, his sister Eileen Evans Schoenfeld, his niece Annie Schoenfeld, his nephew Robbie Schoenfeld, and his niece, Amber Millemann Deedon.

Gordon asked for his ashes to be scattered at his favorite place, Cannon Beach, Oregon; and Caitlin will make that happen for him. His second choice was near the U of M, so a wee bit of him will find it’s way there. And he comes full circle.

Go Blue.
