Life Story / Obituary

Print

Suzanne M. Stevens, 90, of Kalamazoo, formerly of Holly, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026 with loved ones by her side. Sweet yet feisty, Suzanne enjoyed watching birds, especially hummingbirds, walks on beaches, playing Euchre, a good book, and a glass of wine now and then. Strong cups of coffee and chocolate of any kind brought out her beautiful smile.

Suzanne loved and adored her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who brought her great joy. As the heart of her family, her quiet love, hugs, wise counsel, love of reading she passed on to all, and her wry sense of humor were most treasured and are greatly missed. After raising her 5 children and “retiring” to Florida, to the amazement of all, she completed formal childcare training and chose to care for rambunctious 2-year-olds who affectionately called her “Miss Sue”. Her adventures there always brought a smile.

She married Charles K. Stevens Jr. in 1956. There were many adventures over the years with their five children including yearly trips to Oscoda.

She is survived by her children Nanette (Jack) Keiser (Kalamazoo), Linda (Chuck) Wright (Niceville, FL), Chuck (Jamie) Stevens (Onaway), Don (Jodi) Stevens (Grosse Pointe Shores), Cathleen Hackett (Nick Bruton) (Walled Lake), her grandchildren (Faith, Christopher, Bryan, Matt, Darwin, Elise, Lauren), great grandchildren (Cannon, Nolin, Crosby, Quinn, Archer, Jade), several nephews and nieces (Denise, Debbie, Dawn, and DeAnn).

She joins her spouse Charles and her beloved parents Don and Marie and her beloved sister Donna in eternal peace and joy.

A very special thank you to the Centrica Care Navigators team members (Kalamazoo) and Upjohn Care & Rehabilitation staff members (Kalamazoo) for their kind and compassionate care throughout Suzanne’s 3-year final journey.

Please visit Dryer Funeral Home (https://www.dryerfuneralhomeholly.com/) for services details, etc. Cremation has taken place (Betzler Life Story). Private interment will take place at Flint Memorial Park.
