Suzanne Melody Loney, who was an incredible force of love, full of honesty, encouragement and support will be missed in a million different ways each and every day.

Suzanne was born in Kalamazoo Michigan on August 8,1948. She was an amazingly strong and gifted woman who always put her husband Larry and her children: Tania, Nikki and Renee first. Her grandkids (Amelia, Sophia and Evie) and her great grandson (Colt) brought her tremendous joy.

Suzanne had an incredible love of dancing, was known for her quick wit and humor, as well as love of traveling and crafting. She was a whiz at a sewing machine, making clothing, Halloween costumes, and alterations that sometimes led to flooders (LOL).

She loved seeing the world and traveled to many places with Larry and the kids. Over the years, family vacations covered almost all 50 states as well as exotic places including Thailand, Australia, Italy, Belgium, France, England, Aruba, Jamaca, Grand Caymen’s, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Canada.

Sue’s greatest joy came from being a mommy. She was the kindest, most supporting, encouraging and loving mommy anyone could wish for. Babies made her eyes light up & filled her with love. Sue engrained us with this love through caring for animals. We visited many zoos over the years, and we have had a veritable zoo of pets at our homes including rats, cats, dogs, hamsters, gerbils, snakes, ducks, parakeets, a goat named Lunch, peacocks, rabbits, several aquariums of fish, guinea pigs, rabbits and even a skunk named flower.

All of Sue’ s family was incredibly important to her. Over the years Sue and her family traveled to many places for holidays, weddings and family events. Gratefully, her sister Michelle made special efforts to come visit with Sue and her family as often as possible. She even vacationed with them in Florida, Puerto Rico and New Orleans. Michelle continued her support during Sue’s medical issues as well.

Sue looked for the best in everyone she met, believing in their goodness and kindness that others might not have seen. Sue was also fierce in protecting underdogs and her loved ones. No one could stop her when she set her sights on a goal, but she would always listen to anyone’s advice and consider that in her decisions.

Even though life in the last couple years became a mostly stay at home situation, Sue took incredible joy in sharing meals and shows with her family. She loved her kitties: Penelope, Chester and Winston. She also enjoyed bird and critter watching from the kitchen table.

With heavy hearts we mourn the passing of Suzanne. In accordance with her wishes, she passed away at home with Larry, Nikki, Renee and Chester, her favorite kitty, by her side.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.

Suzanne Loney of Kalamazoo, age 77, died on April 9, 2026. Suzanne was born August 8, 1948 in Kalamazoo to Donald and Mildred (Zgurich) Peltier. Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents and her eldest daughter Tania.
