HUGHES, Susan
Of Howe, IN formerly of Kalamazoo
Age 86, died on September 15, 2025, in Kalamazoo. Susan was born July 17, 1939, in Detroit, MI. She earned two master degrees in early childhood education and was the director of several daycare centers in Kalamazoo. Susan was a member of the Kalamazoo Child Neglect and Abuse Council, a student teacher coordinator for the education department at WMU and the public schools and volunteered for CASA in LaGrange County. Susan was an avid supporter of the arts and enjoyed international travel. In retirement, she found peace at her home on North Twin Lake in IN. Members of her family include her sons: Gregory Walz (Karrie Benedict) and Robert Walz; and by a brother, Garland Lane and several cousins and nieces and nephews.
