Sue Lorbeck

Sue (Revitte) Lorbeck, age 85, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2026, with her beloved husband of 54 years, Dale Lorbeck, faithfully by her side until the very end. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Susan Revitte was born on July 29, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan to Edward and Dolores Revitte. She spent her early childhood living in Detroit. As a young girl, she enjoyed reading, spending time with her sister and family. She graduated from Mercy High School. On September 5, 1959, she was married to Richard Schwikert and welcomed her daughters Michelle, Cheryl and Kristen in an earlier chapter in her life.

On February 13, 1971, she met the love of her life Dale Lorbeck and their story embodied one of true soulmates. Sue and Dale were married on November 20, 1971 and two families truly became one. Sue became Mom to daughters Shelly and Jenny and son Kelly. The Lorbeck family of eight lived together in Scotts, Michigan for 20 years before moving to their storybook home on Long Lake in Portage, Michigan. Among Sue’s greatest joys was traveling with Dale. Together they explored new places and enjoyed countless vacations including Daytona Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, the Bahamas, Hawaii, Georgia, Nashville, Arizona, California and their most recent trip; a cruise on the Mississippi River.

Sue lived a life marked by grace, style, and devotion to the people she loved. Throughout her career in bookkeeping/accounting, she was known for her dedication, attention to detail, and strong work ethic. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sue found joy in life's simple pleasures and treasured moments spent with family and friends.

Her greatest life passion was music; She spent her time singing in local jams with her husband Dale, disco dancing The Hustle, watching Saturday Night Fever, showing off their Motown vibe, and listening to her extensive vinyl collection while wearing her favorite Pink Floyd t-shirt. She loved her morning coffee, spending sunny days pontoon boating, sipping cocktails while sharing conversation, and appreciating the beauty of nature. Throughout her life, her favorite hobby was photo framing. Sue had a remarkable sense of fashion and carried herself with elegance and confidence. Whether attending a special event or enjoying an ordinary day, she always took pride in looking her best, with her hair and nails impeccably done. Her glamorous spirit, warm smile, and vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Sue's legacy is one of love, kindness, and appreciation for life's beauty. She will be remembered for her fashion, style, her laughter, and the many wonderful memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her.

Sue is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dale Lorbeck; her children Shelly (Curtis) Lacy, Jenny (Angela) Lorbeck, Kelly (Lisa) Lorbeck, Michelle (Bill) Coleman, Cheryl (Arnie) Anguiano,

Kristen (Patrick) Fillar; as well as her grandchildren Amber, Cassie, Jesse, Lindsey, Taylor, Kelsey, Sydney, Carson and great-grandchildren Rowan, Sage, Jasper, and Teagan.

She was preceded in death by her sister Laurie, her brother Tom, her parents Dolores and Edward Revitte and her parents-in-law Doris and Lovell (Pete) Lorbeck.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sue's life at a Celebration of Life gathering to be held at Indian Run Golf Course in Scotts, Michigan from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026 (11:00-appetizers and drinks, 12:30-Pastor Jim Dyke will speak, 1:00-light lunch served).

Though she will be deeply missed, Sue's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and in the countless moments of joy she shared throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sue’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
