Sidney “Sid” S. Roschek, 73, of Kalamazoo passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Rose Arbor Hospice. The youngest of three boys was born on February 14, 1948, in Kalamazoo to Norbert and Mary Roschek and lived in the area his entire life. Sid was very outgoing, a good storyteller, loved to make people laugh, and his passions were fishing, hunting, and sports. In particular, he loved attending games of his alma maters: Hackett Catholic Prep High School football games (even when it was snowing!) and was a season ticket holder for Western Michigan University basketball games. Sid was a 1966 graduate of Hackett Catholic Prep High School and went on to graduate from Western Michigan University in business and marketing, then into the U.S. Air Force. His career was in sales at Central Advertising and Commerce Clearing House. In 1984, he started his own outdoor advertising company, Liberty Media Management Inc., which is now run by his son.
Members of his family include his former spouse Deborah (Doug Dykehouse) and their 2 children: Nathan (Mandy) Roschek of Kalamazoo and Emily (Olivier) Roy of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; two grandchildren, Evan and Stella Roschek, and baby boy Roy is due in October; along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Sid was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Richard “Dick” Roschek, and his brother and sister-in-law Norbert “Sam” and Ann Roschek.
