Sharon Russell

Sharon Russell of Lawton, age 78, died on January 16, 2024. Born on August 8, 1945 in Kalamazoo to Irwin and Catherine (Hunt) Brown, Sharon’s life is a testament to love, family, and community.

She dedicated much of her time to the betterment of children, not just her own, but all those around her. From her role as a crossing guard, to being a friendly face during recess, and eventually retiring as a Parapro for Marcellus Public Schools, Sharon’s work leaves a lasting impact on the lives of many.

A fun-loving person with an infectious spirit, Sharon eagerly anticipated her monthly gathering with “The Lunch Bunch” at Big T’s. These moments were filled with laughter and the joy of shared company.

Life on the lake with her husband Fred was simply serene. Their home became a hub for family celebrations, countless picnics, and pontoon boat rides. Sharon took pride in her family, and the achievements and milestones in their own lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, and her brother, Hayes. Surviving are her children: Scott (Kim) Russell, Sue (Jerry) Solis, and Stacy Russell; grandchildren: Justin (Kendra), Brittany (Kyle), Josiah, Gabriel (Jessica), Jesse (Caroline), Timothy (Nicole), Serena, Lily, Michael (Emily), Rudy, Sophia, Lylah, Breslin, and Taevien; and great-grandchildren: Declan, Dimitri, Anya, Riley, Connor, Dawson.
