Robert Cree (Bob) Eisenberg, Ph.D. of Kalamazoo, Michigan, died in hospice care on Friday, April 10, 2020, at the age of 81. His wife, Dinah Rank Eisenberg, was at his side.

Bob was born in Denison, Texas on August 5, 1938 to Alfred Granville Eisenberg and Katherine White Eisenberg. Bob grew up in Texas and Missouri. He graduated from Oregon (MO) High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from North West Missouri State University and his doctorate in microbiology from North Carolina State University.

A scientist and a teacher, Bob was a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, from 1967 to 2001, when he retired.

Bob is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dinah; his son, Ryan Eisenberg of Homer, Alaska; his daughter, Eileen (John) Hendrix of Kalamazoo; his brother, Richard Eisenberg of Missouri; and his former wife, Donna Andresen of Kalamazoo. Bob had eight grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Zonamarie Eisenberg and Elizabeth Moore; and his stepdaughter, Cassandra Rank.

Bob has been cremated and his remains will be buried in Mountain Home Cemetery in Kalamazoo. Because of the pandemic, a memorial service will not be held at this time.
