Life Story / Obituary

Age 82, died peacefully on December 7, 2019. Nora was born October 23, 1937 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Steve and Thelma Horwath. Nora was devoted to her faith, waking early each morning to read her bible. She was a loving wife to her husband, Harold, who was a pastor. She taught Sunday school. Nora had a true passion for children as she was also teacher’s aid for many years. Perhaps nothing pleased her more though than becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother. She delighted in keeping up with her family and listening to their stories. Nora was also known as a pretty good sketch artist, often drawing cartoons or doodles on anything including a napkin if that’s all she had handy. Nora was preceded in death by her father, Steve Horwath, and her sister, Barb Robenstein. Surviving are her husband of 64 wonderful years, Harold Brown; 3 children: Terry Brown, Danny Brown, and Dale Brown; 7 grandchildren: Jennifer, Ty, Allyssa, Russell, Melinda, Crystal, and Ashley; a loving bunch of great-grandchildren; her mother: Thelma Horwath who will be 100 years old on Christmas Eve; 2 siblings: Steve Horwath and Sharon (Jerry Cooper) Frient; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visit with family and friends from 5-7 PM on Tuesday (DEC 10) at Betzler Life Story Funeral Home, 6080 Stadium Dr., Kalamazoo, 269-375-2900. Services will be held Wednesday (DEC 11) at 11 AM at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Fulton, Michigan. Burial at Mount Ever Rest Memorial Park.
