Nancy Black Miller died peacefully January 25, 2026 at home in independent living. Following the death of her second husband L. Gordon Miller, Jr., Nancy moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan to be closer to her son, C. Reid Hudgins III and his wife Deborah, remaining there for the rest of her life.
Nancy was born in Summit, New Jersey, to Edward and Belle Black, the youngest of four children. Following high school, she graduated from Bradford College and began teaching kindergarten and nursery school.
On February 27, 1942, Nancy married the love of her life, C. Reid Hudgins, Jr. Nancy and Reid had two sons, C. Reid Hudgins III and Lee Stoddard Hudgins. Nancy’s life was full of family, love, adventure, and happy memories including what would become annual summer visits to Nantucket, Massachusetts.
On February 18, 1956, Nancy married L. Gordon Miller, Jr. They spent many years in New Jersey, retiring to Albemarle, North Carolina, and Nantucket. Bud died in 2016. Nancy then moved to The Artisan in Heritage Community of Kalamazoo to be closer to her family.
Nancy died January 25, 2026, one day following her 105th birthday. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband Reid and their son Lee, and her second husband. She is survived by her son Reid and his wife Deborah, their two daughters Brooke (Michael) Lawson and their children Jackson and Emma, and Amy (Thomas) Junker and their children Thomas, Jr., Alexandra, and Brooke. Nancy is also survived by one nephew, Steven Boynton.
