Michael Dean Fleshman

Age 71, died peacefully on January 19, 2020. Michael was born January 6, 1949 in Petoskey, the son of Alden and Mary (Johnson) Fleshman. Known as a gentle soul, Michael had a deep empathy for people. He was spiritual in a “new age” way. Michael graduated from Petoskey High School in 1967 and later earned his Bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed crafting with beads and occasional painting and could always spot a good sale on supplies. He loved a good buffet, particularly Chinese. He was also a longtime employee of Meijer, managing much of the cash office activities putting his math skills to work. Michael retired after 30 years there. Most of all he enjoyed being in the garden; caring for the welfare of animals, even raising and showing Great Danes. He is preceded in death by his parents. Michael is survived by his siblings: David (Susan) Fleshman, Linda (Dennis) Fisher, and Alan (Rita) Fleshman; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and a longtime companion Richard Huston.
