CHOJNOWSKI, Melanie Noel

Gull Lake

Melanie Noel Chojnowski passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2004, after a 14-month battle with cancer. Melanie was born on October 23, 1974 in Kalamazoo to Margaret J. and Michael L. Chojnowski. She graduated from Gull Lake High School in 1992, received her Registered Nurse degree from Kellogg Community College, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University. She was most recently employed as a nurse at Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. She is survived by her parents; and a brother, Christian (Maria) Chojnowski; a sister, Nicol (Sean) O’Brien; a niece, Alexandra Nicol O’Brien; paternal grandfather, Mitchell J. Chojnowski and maternal grandparents, J.A. and Margaret Romero; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Melanie enjoyed many outdoor activities, including: skiing, swimming, running, hiking and biking. She loved animals of all kinds, especially her yellow Labrador Retriever, Libby. Melanie was a kind and gentle person, who deeply loved her family members and friends. She found her calling as a hospice nurse, and, at the end, was blessed by the loving care of her co-workers. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Saturday 10:00 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church, followed by interment at Yorkville Cemetery and a reception at the Sherman Lake YMCA.
