Lois Allen

Lois Lynne (Anger) Allen, 74, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 surrounded by her family, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo after a five-month battle with B-Cell Burkitt’s Lymphoma. Lois was born to Russell E. and Nettie (Larsen) Anger at their family home in Midland, Michigan. Lois attended Olson Elementary and graduated from Midland High School. She attended Delta College and graduated from Central Michigan University with her Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She received her Master of Arts Degree and her Specialist in Education from Western Michigan University. Lois was a devoted teacher at Bloomingdale Public Schools for 37 years, teaching kindergarten, second and third grades. She was a member of the Michigan Education Association and Bloomingdale Education Association. Lois regularly attended and was a member of Portage Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for 14 years. She was a member of the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts and a member of the Art League of the KIA and a watercolorist.

Lois is survived by her sister Linda Anger of Kalamazoo, brothers Harold Anger of Midland, Donald (Gay) Anger of Breckenridge, Dale (Marsha) Anger of Midland, sister-in-law Lorelei Anger of Indianapolis, Indiana and nieces Lori Anger, Lisa (Dale) Robbins, Erin (Adam) Ruckert, Adrienne (James) Essar, nephew Neil (Donna) Anger of Indianapolis, Indiana, great nieces Becca (David) Budka, Aurora Ruckert, Grace Essar, great nephews Brett (Jessica) Noack, Wyatt Essar, Jackson Essar, and Elliot Ruckert and her former husband James R. Allen and many cousins. Lois was proceeded in death by her parents, brother Russell N. Anger, baby sister Gayle Anger and sister-in-law Clara Anger.

A memorial service will be held at Portage Chapel Hill United Methodist Church 7028 Oakland Drive, Portage, MI 49024 on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A private interment will be held at the Lee Township Cemetery in Midland, Michigan at a later date. Donations may be made to Portage Chapel Hill UMC children’s ministry, Bloomingdale Elementary School library or the charity of the donors’ choice.
