Life Story / Obituary

Print

Age 95, died on July 12, 2020. Jack was born July 6, 1925 in Chicago, the son of Robert and Sabra (Tyler) Hoyt. A graduate of Lawrence High School, Jack went on to make his career at several local companies including Checker Cab, Allied Paper, and Eaton Corporation. In 1948 he married his sweetheart, Rosemary French, marking the beginning of a beautiful love story. The couple enjoyed an evening out to see a live band and every Saturday they’d go on a date where they’d dance the night away. Together Jack and Rosemary raised two children, teaching them to cast a fishing line and clean their catch among many other things. Jack had a talent for gardening as well, a trait passed down to him through the generations on the family farm. He had a wonderfully generous personality, often sharing his crops with local nurses and others, making their day special. Jack was also quite the bowler, embracing his role as Captain of several teams over the years.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary; his sisters: Harriet and Irene; and brothers: Roger, Carroll, and Russell. Surviving are his children: Susan (Robert) Wagner of Lawton and Jack (Nancy) Hoyt II of South Haven; 3 grandchildren: Diane Wagner, Sandra Tuleja, and Scott Hoyt; and several great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. Visit Jack’s personal webpage at www.BetzlerLifeStory.com where you may archive a favorite memory or photo, and sign his online guestbook. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association. Arrangements by Betzler & Thompson Life Story Funeral Home, 60900 M-40 Hwy, Paw Paw (269) 657-3870.
