Gordon Franklin Lentz passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the age of eighty-six. Born April 16, 1936, Gordon worked to be a successful, self-made man. In 1972, Gordon’s family moved to Kalamazoo, MI where he started a business, Lentz USA Service Centers, an automotive repair center that expanded into five states. In 2014, Gordon stepped back from his successful career to spend more time traveling and being with his family.

Gordon was proud to serve his country in the United States Army. He loved all sports and was a 29-year sponsor of the USTA National Boys Tennis Tournament. Gordon welcomed all and cherished talking with his customers at Lentz USA Service Centers He and Gloria spent winters in Florida and summers in Michigan.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Gloria, of 64 years; his three sons: Bradley Lentz of Newago, Dr. Jeffrey Lentz of Ft. Myers, FL., and Gregory (Elizabeth) Lentz of DeWitt. He encouraged his boys to pursue higher education, was proud of their success, and loved them dearly.

Gordon loved and will be missed by his seven grandchildren: Colton of Wisconsin, Adele of Grand Rapids, Nickolas of Lansing, Jacob of Grand Rapids, Nathaniel of DeWitt, and Matthew and Isabella of Ft. Myers, FL. Gordon was one of six children and is survived by one sibling: Jean Haynes of Michigan City, IN.

“It was his time to go but we were not ready for him to leave us.” A memorial service in Gordon’s honor will be arranged at a later date.
