Fred Port was born on February 11, 1933 in Uniontown Pennsylvania, the second oldest born to Fredrick and Evelyn Port and grew up on various farms in the Uniontown area. Fred enjoyed farm life with his siblings, Carolyn (Gritzer), Libby (Davis), Rick (Linda) and William. Upon completion of high school, Fred enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country for four years before being honorably discharged. He graduated from Kent State University before embarking on a long career in sales, first with Roadway Trucking and eventually retiring from Yellow Freight. He married Dolors Strong on February 27, 1960 and together they raised their 3 children: Shelley, Fredrick and David in a loving and caring home. Fred was a good provider for his family and made sure there was plenty of family time with the kids by having a family pool, taking vacations to destinations such as Disney and Cedar Point. He also taught his children the value of hard work, the importance of having good morals and treating others with kindness and respect. After his retirement from Yellow Freight in 1997 he found employment at Lowes, which was a great match for his easy-going personality. He and Dolors also found time to travel during their golden years as they went to places such as Alaska, Hawaii, Europe and the Caribbean. With declining health, Fred and Dolors moved into Crystal Woods Assisted Living where Fred died on Friday, March 7, 2025. Surviving members of his family include his wife Dolors, 3 children: Shelley (Vince) Vendetti, Fredrick III ( Anne) Port, David Port; 8 grandchildren: David (Bridget), Devin (Korie), Katie (Brad), Kevin (Lexie), Fredrick IV, Brian, Leo, Sophie; 3 Great grandchildren: Maeve, Vito, Bennett. He was preceded in death by William Port, Carolyn (Gritzer) and Rick Port.

Cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 20 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta Michigan.
