Dora R. Olsen passed away peacefully on June 19, 2018. She was born on August 27, 1934 in Plainwell, Michigan to Beatrice (Berry) and Clarence Krueger. Most of her school days were spent at Blackman School in Allegan and Little River Kansas High School. She later attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She married Charles Olsen on August 23, 1954 and together they shared nearly 64 years of marriage that had many good times of laughter, adventure and love. Her hobbies were square dancing and traveling. Dora belonged to the Cloverleaf Squares, Circle 8, and Quadrille Square Dance Clubs, and was Mom to the Kalamazoo Kids and Kuzins dance group. She volunteered at the Air Zoo, Civic Theatre, and Michigan Blood. Dora loved to broaden horizons for herself and others with travel adventures across the US and abroad. She loved nature, national parks, flowers, WMU basketball, garage sales and a good bargain. Her greatest enjoyment was to take her family and friends on vacations. She loved to brighten lives of others with a well decorated table, skits, cards, fun and games. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, step-father E.L. Root, and her brothers Eugene and Jack Root. Surviving are her husband Chuck; two daughters: Krista (Joe) Cekola and Teresa (Jeffrey) Klan; a son: Craig (Vicki) Olsen; two grandsons: Wyatt and Levi (fiancé Majken); her brother Larry (Dee) Root; and a sister-in-law Yvonne (Jack) Root. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. To honor Dora’s well loved and fully lived life, please think of your loved ones and give or send flowers to someone still living that you care about.
