Diane Timm Sloan

Diane Marie Sloan, age 70, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 26, 2023.

Diane was born on June 24, 1953, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Ruth (Gurney) Timm and Charles Timm. She graduated from Portage Central High School where she played clarinet in the marching band.

Diane remained in the Kalamazoo area, where she raised her family. She tirelessly volunteered in the community: organizing the neighborhood safe house program for children, serving as classroom parent for her four daughters, volunteering in the school libraries, and enriching lives as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She also crocheted blankets for the homeless after she lost her mobility.

In addition to her family, Diane’s passion was crafting and baking. She created many cross-stitch projects, was a talented crochet artist, and sewed numerous quilts. She was also known for her delicious and beautiful treats that were made for every holiday, especially her elaborate cookie trays at Christmas.

Diane is survived by her daughters: Tonya Sloan, Sasha Sloan, Alyssa Sloan, and Larissa Sloan. Also surviving are her sisters: June White, Karen (David) Wright, Ruthann Cook; brother, Jerry Hamilton; sister-in-law, Joyce Timm; and many nieces and nephews. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Charles and John Timm; sister-in-law, Donna Timm; brothers-in-law, William White; Michael Walker and John Cook.

Cremation has taken place and private services will be held.
