With a great sense of humor, a deep compassion for others, and a beauty that radiated from within, Debbi Lhamon was truly a blessing in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a constant source of strength, and she faced every challenge that came her way with grace and determination. Nothing brought Debbi greater joy than spending time with her family and friends . Her generous heart allowed her to serve her loved ones and her community, and she never took a single moment for granted, no matter how simple. Dearly loved, Debbi will be forever missed by those who knew her best.

Her story began in 1976 in Mt. Clemens, MI. Debra Lynn Barr was born on May 8th to Larry and Jan (Guilloz) Barr. She was one of the four Barr children and was raised alongside her siblings, Jason, Lori, and Greg. The family’s childhood home was in Richmond, Michigan.

As a girl growing up in Richmond, Debbi enjoyed a happy childhood typical of her generation. She was known to be on the quiet side, and though she would sometimes quarrel with her sister, as sisters do, Lori, the two grew to be very close as they got older. At the age of 11, the Barr family moved to Paw Paw, Michigan. Debbi attended local schools and discovered a love for dancing and singing, participating in her high school’s choir. She graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1995, eagerly looking forward to what the future held.

Debbi’s life was forever changed for the better as she met the man who would quickly become the love of her life. His name was Doug Lhamon, and the two first met while working at the local Big Boy restaurant in Paw Paw. Debbi was a busser there, and Doug was a prep cook. Their relationship blossomed as they fell deeply in love. With a desire to spend the rest of their lives together, Debbi and Doug were married in the presence of family and friends on November 7, 1998.

There were many things that Debbi loved in life, but she cherished her family above all else. She and Doug were so happy to welcome their three children, Hannah, Robert (Robby), and Kyle, into their hearts and home. Debbi thrived in her role as a mother, and her kids were her greatest source of pride and joy. She taught them to make the most of every moment, and she was very involved in their lives, making it to every game or concert she could. Debbi strove to ensure that her Hannah, Robby, and Kyle were always taken care of. She had a huge heart for children and babies and always loved on them as if they were her own. Everyone was family to Debbi, and she always made sure that her friends and family members knew just how much they were loved. She would attend as many family gatherings as possible, making sure that all her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews understood how important they were to her.

An active member of her community, Debbi opened her arms to anyone and everyone around her. She thoroughly enjoyed her job at Little Blessings Day Care, but her work was so much more than just a job. Debbi could often be found spending her lunch break in the baby room, holding the kids. She was a Mary Kay Consultant as well. Debbi was a dedicated member of her church, Unity Missionary Baptist Church, in Paw Paw. She constantly encouraged others to be confident about sharing their faith. Debbi would volunteer to help at camps or around the church in whatever ways she could. Her favorite song was “Jesus Take the Wheel.” No one was a stranger to Debbi for long, and she was always ready and willing to help out.

Debbi enjoyed shopping for gifts for others, making tik tok videos, and posting selfies often. She had a lifelong love for singing, and she could sing everything from traditional hymns to New Kids on the Block. Debbi liked all things fashion, including makeup and purses, to water bottles and shoes. Debbi always had a fun game ready to play with her kids and nieces and nephews at family gatherings like bean boozle, diaper games, or the baby bottle chug race, and she was easily recognizable by her infectious laughter.

All who knew Debbi Lhamon will certainly agree that she truly lived each and every day to the very fullest. She exemplified what it meant to follow after the Lord she loved so much, and she was never afraid to speak about her faith. A devoted wife, mother, and friend to many, Debbi always made sure to hold her loved ones close. Her insatiable zest for life could be felt by all those around her, and she was always willing to go above and beyond to care for anyone and everyone. Though she will be greatly missed, Debbi leaves behind a priceless legacy of compassion and acceptance that her loved ones can be proud to carry on in her name.

Debbi Lhamon died on Monday, April 28, 2025. Members of her family include her husband Doug, 3 children: Hannah, Robert “Robby” and Kyle; her parents Larry Barr and Janette Guilloz; her 2 brothers: Jason (Heather) Barr, Greg (Lindsay) Barr, and sister Lori (Ralph) Closurdo; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Life Story Services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Freshwater Community Church, 600 E Michigan Ave, Paw Paw. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. A reception will be held at the church following the burial at Almena Cemetery.
