Craig S. Biland, age 70, of Mattawan, passed away on February 24, 2023, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, following a brief illness.
He was born on September 3, 1952 in Mount Clemens, Michigan, the son of Alfred T. and Janice J. (Borntrager) Biland. He graduated from White Pigeon High School in 1970, and from Glen Oaks Community College in 1972 with a degree in Tool and Die design and manufacturing.
Following school, he began work at a succession of tool and die shops, including Square D and Ronningen Research and Development in Vicksburg where he met the love of his life, Peggy Sayer. He went on to work for an emerging computer aided design and manufacturing company, Comptervision, in Chicago, Illinois where he worked in after sale service and training.
Most recently, he worked at Tri-Mation Industries, in Mattawan until his retirement in 2017.
Craig enjoyed working on cars and his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and taking trips around Michigan, especially his favorite places, Manistee and Mackinaw Island. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, and spoiling his pet corgis.
He was married to Peggy L. Sayer on August 31, 1985 in White Pigeon. Surviving family members include his wife Peggy, his son Bradley R. Biland of Mattawan, three grandchildren, Sara, Alan, and Adam Biland of Mattawan, his brother Alan T. (Martha R.) Biland of Racine, Wisconsin, and his aunt Nancy L. LaParl of Algonac and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Michael A. Biland and Peter E. Biland.
Cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled.
