Christiana Murray

Beloved mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother, Christiana (Chris/Christy) Murray passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025. Chris was born May 24, 1949, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Christian and Barbara (Phillips) Moskalik. Chris grew up in Kalamazoo and graduated from Monsignor O'Brien High School. She lived many years in Roscommon and then Grand Rapids, before settling back in the Kalamazoo area (along with a short stint in Littleton, Colorado). She worked at various insurance agencies throughout her career before retiring.

Chris was known for her sense of humor and her laughter, and her smile was contagious. She will also be remembered for her love of family, her wit (occasionally on the questionable side), and her love of travel, gardening (oh my, those hibiscus), and art, as well as her never-ending delight in shopping, for others as much as herself.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Larry Murray. She is survived by her two children, Derrek (Kathy) Murray of Battle Creek and Abigail (Michael) Murray of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Josh and Olivia; two grand-pets, Zella and Sydney; one great-grand pet, Pudge; six siblings, Mike (Anne), Pat (Jane), Butch, Kathy (Greg), Keary (Stacey), and Shaun (Gregg); and many nieces and nephews. The family will host a private celebration of life memorial and burial on Aug. 2, 2025. There will not be a visitation.
