Life Story / Obituary
With her outgoing personality and being easy to talk with, Carol Dressler never met a stranger. She had a giving heart and was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister. Though she is no longer with us in a physical sense, her memory will live within the hearts, minds and souls of those who knew and loved her.
Born on May 25, 1938, to Frank and June Belmer, she grew up in a large family in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Her Father supported the family by being a salesman while her mother stayed home to tend to the house and children.
Carol married Herbert Blackington and together they had four children: Herb, Audrey, Frank and Kirk. Carol kept a marvelous house and supported her children to explore their own endeavors. She was a wonderful cook and some of her special dishes were stuffed cabbage, chicken and homemade bread which would fill the house with a wonderful aroma each Saturday.
After Herbert’s death she would find love again with Ed Dressler. Together they enjoyed traveling in their camper and visiting Pennsylvania Amish country was one of Carol’s favorite destinations.
Carol enjoyed reading and watching reruns of Gunsmoke and Bonanza. Crafting was very important to her and she enjoyed her bead work. She led by example and was known as someone who could be dependable. Over the years she had her share of adversity but had a never quit attitude and she kept a positive outlook on life. With the gift of hospitality, she made friends easily by delivering her homemade soups and cookies to neighbors. Her gregarious nature along with her generosity and sense of humor to brighten someone’s day will never be forgotten.
Carol died on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Members of her family include her children: Herb and his wife Marcia Blackington, Audrey and her husband Daniel Cosgrove, Kirk Blackington, Eddie Dressler; Siblings: Jackie Wilson, Bruce and his wife Lynne Belmer, Porter Belmer; Grandchildren: Frankie, Ashley, Tyler, Benjamin, Danny, Jeremy; Great Grandchildren: Mason, Austin, Logan, Jude, Beckett, Kennedy; a Great Great Grandchild: August.
