Bonnie Pearl Powell

Oh, that smile…

Bonnie Pearl Powell, age 81, passed away on August 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 15, 1945, Bonnie was the beloved daughter of David and Germaine Gerard Powell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ann Walton, her brother-in-law John Walton, and her nephew Kevin Walton.

Despite facing challenges while growing up, Bonnie found joy in the simple things and shared that joy generously. She loved bowling, word search puzzles, participating in Special Olympics, spending time with animals, being around children who were drawn to her, and working for many years at McKercher Workshop, where she made friends, took pride in her work, and helped those around her.

Bonnie never met a stranger. Over the years, she became friends with the friends of her nieces and nephews, rarely missed a sporting event, and proudly earned her title as “the Gull Lake Mascot.” She will be remembered for her kindness, her joyful spirit, and the unforgettable smile that could brighten any room.

Bonnie was happiest when she was with her family, especially with a Diet Coke in hand. True to one of her favorite sayings, she lived by the idea of “being as young as I feel,” bringing warmth, laughter, and love to every gathering. Her family is forever grateful she was recently able to take a long-anticipated trip to Disney World with her niece to celebrate her 80th birthday, creating a memory they will always treasure.

She is survived by her niece, Kellee (Dennis) Clancy; her great-nieces and nephews, Ryan Clancy, Connor (Taylor) Clancy, Caitlin (Michael) Hedge, and Colleen Clancy; and her pride and joy, her great-great-nieces and nephews, Daley and Nolan Clancy, and Peyton and Brady Hedge. Bonnie will also be missed by her loving Powell cousins—all of them.

A special thank you to the staff at Hoard Manor, Bronson Hospital, and WMed for the care and compassion they showed her over the years. Bonnie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her big smile, her generous heart, and the joy she shared so freely with everyone lucky enough to meet her.
