Betty was born on a cold, wintry day - January 30, 1928. This was the tail end of the “Roaring Twenties,” a time period characterized in America by jazz music, economic prosperity, and prohibition.

As a young woman, Betty caught the eye of a certain Charles H. Meisner. Betty and Charles soon fell in love, and Betty accepted Charles’ proposal of marriage. In the following years, their marriage was blessed with two children: Charles Jr. (Chuck) and Sue. Betty was a great mother, and always supported her children in their endeavors.

Betty started a career as a lab technician on August 1, 1953. Her first position was with the Air Force, where she stayed for three years. She then moved on to the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital, where her husband also worked. Betty was a dedicated and reliable employee, completing 30 years of service at the hospital.

Betty was an admitted introvert, and enjoyed the peace and solitude of working in her veggie garden. Inside, she could often be spotted curled up with a good book or a challenging crossword puzzle. More often than not, there would be sweet treat not too far away! Betty was thrilled when her grandson Zach was born. She loved spending time with him, and the two had a special relationship.

Quiet, kind, and trustworthy, Betty was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a delighted grandmother. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her many friends and family members.

Betty Meisner died on April 16, 2012, at the age of eighty-four. Her family includes her daughter, Sue Meisner (Scott Brewer), and her grandson, Zach Meisner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and her son, Charles Meisner, Jr. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 20, at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
