Life Story / Obituary

Betty Bridges of Lawton, age 71, died on November 25, 2024. Betty was born June 7, 1953 in Richwood, West Virginia to Donald White and Sylvia Sloan, both of whom preceded her in death. Also preceding Betty in death are her husband, Jimmy, and her twin brother, Teddy White.

Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind her children: Michael Jones, Brenda Bunch, and Nicole (Steve) White; grandchildren: Kyle (Samantha), Jacob (Cara), Josh (McKinze), Brennan, Brian, Logan, Maddie Jones, Gavon, Izzy, Evelyn; and great-children, Bryson, Elaina, Aubrey. She is also survived by her siblings: James White, Donald (Diane) White, Kenneth White, Darlene White; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty had a love for history, a fondness for her pets, and a heart for taking care of others. She was known for her infectious laughter and her caring nature. Family meant everything to her, and she was always there to defend and support her children. Betty played an active role in raising her grandchildren and cherished each moment spent with them.

Though she didn’t care much for cooking, Betty was always first in line to sample the food before it was ready, especially on Thanksgiving when she’d happily nibble away at the dishes she was eager to enjoy. Her sense of humor and appetite for life were truly unique, and she will be remembered for her joyful spirit and many road trips, where she often got lost because she never trusted the GPS.

A proud supporter of President Trump, Betty was never shy to express her views and values, standing firm in her beliefs throughout her life.

Private burial services will be held. Celebrate Betty’s life online by sharing your favorite stories and photos on her dedicated webpage at BetzlerLifeStory.com. Betzler Life Story Funeral Homes, 6080 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo (269) 375-2900.
