Thomas Brown, of Albion, age 72, died on February 22, 2022. Tom was born June 1, 1949 in Albion to John and Joanne (Sears) Brown. Dedicated and loyal, Tom enjoyed his career in commercial pipefitting, having worked 30 years at The Albion Malable. His tenure at Malable included working in the union and eventually serving as UAW President. After retiring he worked another 15 years at Hunter-Prell, also as a plumber and pipefitter. As hard as he worked, he knew how to enjoy life just as much. He and his wife, Vickie, ventured on several trips including one particular motorcycle ride down the Dragon’s Trail. Tom had a true passion for NASCAR and racing. He and his friend, Joe Leherke, owned a Midget car together and enjoyed that time racing. He also wrenched for his son, Michael, with his dirt track racing. Ending the day with a good glass of bourbon and time with family and friends is all Tom needed for the day to be just perfect.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Vickie; children: Jeffrey (Lisa) Frank, Michael (Valerie) Brown, and Benjamin (Anita) Brown; step-son, Erik (Kasia) Krueger; grandchildren: Erin, Emily, Abby, Amanda, Allison, and Aaron; and siblings: Terri Minder, Margie Lawton, and Kevin (Elizabeth) Brown.

Cremation has taken place. A party will be held at a later date. Visit Tom’s webpage at BetzlerLifeStory.com to archive favorite memories, photos, and sign his guestbook. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society. Betzler Life Story Funeral Home, 6080 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo 269-375-2900.
