Susan Hanselman

Susan Hanselman passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor August 22,026, having reached the age of 100 years old. She was born in Kalamazoo to William S. Taylor and Elizabeth Marvin on May 30, 1926. Susan had one sister, Virginia Hilf, who also reached the age of 100 years old before her passing. Susan lived in Kalamazoo her whole life. She graduated from the University of Michigan with an English major.

She married Harold (Bud) Hanselman, Jr., in 1950 and they were married 61 years before his passing. Susan loved sports. She played golf and tennis and was a loyal fan of the University of Michigan sports.

Susan traveled the world with Bud and continued to travel after his passing. She especially loved England, Italy and Greece. Some of her favorite adventures included sailing the French Riviera on board the Sea Cloud. Traveling to Scotland with the First Presbyterian Church, and also a visit to Jerusalem where she rode a camel at the age of 92.

She was an avid reader, loved her book club, and played bridge in the Town and Country Bridge League. She was a member of the Gull Lake Country Club, the Kalamazoo Country Club and was a board member for CARES.

Susan enjoyed life and filled it with a multitude of wonderful friends. There was an open-door policy at 5:00 PM to join her for a rum and coke. She had a wonderful, playful sense of humor with no filter. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bud, their son Billy and her sister Jinny. Surviving are her daughters, Jane Hanselman, Maridee Hanselman, and Salle Hanselman (Susan Canzoneri), her grandchildren Garrett Wenger, Evan Wenger and Stacy Canzoneri (Gillian) and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where her service will take place on November 13th at 3:00 PM.
