Life Story / Obituary

Age 82, returned to his heavenly home on September 30, 2019. Stan fought a valiant battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Valley in Scottsdale, Arizona. God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Stan was born October 11, 1936 to Charles and Virginia (Smith) Kizinski and later adopted by Stanley L. and Hazel Greene. He attended Michigan State University and forever remained a Spartan fan. In 1952, Stan joined the Navy. A pivotal experience for him, Stan was proud to be a veteran and supported all who've served their country. Stand found his true calling when he began working for General Motors in Kalamazoo, Michigan. With the respect of his peers he even served as union representative. He retired in 1993 after 28 years there having gained the friendship of many of his colleagues. Always one to stay active, Stan enjoyed biking, running, and skiing early on in his life. His passion though was swimming. He won many races over the years. Truly, any activity in the water brought him great joy. In 1991, Stan married the love of his life, Lori Norton, in Cancun. Together, with their adventurous spirits, they travelled the globe, becoming especially fond of Hawaii. They lived in Portage, Michigan for 22 years before moving to Anthem, Arizona in 2013. Surviving are Stan's loving wife, Lori; his son, Kelly; several nieces and nephews, and Lori’s sister Lee (Paul) Hageman. Stan is predeceased by his sister, Pat (Bob) Parks who passed away earlier this year as well as Lori's sister, Lynn (Bob) Jackson who died in 2014. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, November 9 at Mountain Home Cemetery in Kalamazoo, Michigan with military honors and the Rev. Mr. Todd A. Petty officiating. Following the burial, celebrate Stan's life with family and friends from 2-4 PM at Martell’s restaurant, 3501 Greenleaf Blvd. Kalamazoo, Michigan. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, Arizona or the Humane Society of South Central Michigan in Battle Creek, Michigan.
