Surviving are two sons: Stephen (Marlene) Denenfeld of Kalamazoo and Paul Denenfeld of Grand Rapids; two grandchildren: Risa (Rick) Wernimont and Mark Denenfeld; three great-grandchildren: Oliver, Adeline, and Leo Wernimont; and several nieces and nephews. A life-long New Deal Democrat, she was thrilled by the election of African-American President Barack Obama. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, George; her sister, Catherine; her husband, Philip in 2000; and a son, Mark in 1985. In accordance with her wishes, a cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or memorial service. The family will hold a private gathering in the near future.
