Life Story / Obituary
William Patrick Koehne, age 71, passed away March 10, 2023. Fondly called either Pat or Patrick, he was born on June 18, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois. He is the youngest child of parents Mary and Frank who preceded him in death. Pat grew up in Chicago, Illinois enjoying city life, before moving back to Mattawan, Michigan with his family where he graduated from Mattawan High School. After graduation Pat moved back to city life, living in San Francisco, California, where he spent a few years working different jobs including construction, got married for a short period of time, never having any children. He moved on to the next big city, Las Vegas, Nevada where he lived his life to the fullest. He worked many jobs in the casinos there including as a dealer before settling into a fun and productive job as a shuttle bus driver. He loved meeting people and getting to see views from all over the world. Pats great sense of humor helped open people up and made life fun. Pat had several hobbies including playing basketball and billiards, which he exceled at, and reading books on many subjects, as well as being a talented artist. He loved working out and chatting with friends. He was involved in the Taoist Tai Chi Society in Kalamazoo where he participated in Tai Chi. Pat is survived by two brothers: Gilbert Curtis Koehne and Michael (Pamela) Edward Koehne Sr.. Also many nieces and nephews and step-nieces and step-nephews, including nieces Diane Hull and Suzanne Leonard; and nephews Michael E. Koehne Jr., Zachary Andrew Koehne, and Jacob Thomas Koehne. Also survived by his close friend of many years, Carol Austin. Pat made countless friends in different states over many years creating a wonderful life. Per Patrick’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services.
