Mary Wyman, a longtime resident of the area died on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at the Timbers of Cass County. She was born on June 28, 1934, the daughter of Eddie and Dortha Van Zile in Grand Rapids and grew up in Comstock. She worked at Gibson Guitar and the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital as a cook. She married Neil Wyman in 1961 and he preceded her in death 1993. Mary was known to be a good cook and was known for pecan pies and her breads that she gave away at Christmas. A fiercely independent woman she took pride in her home and loved her family. Mary had a compassionate heart for animals and enjoyed feeding the birds and the squirrels in her yard and she loved her dog and cat. Members of her family include her son and daughter-in-law Eddie and Angie Elmore; 3 step children: Jeff, Doug, Sherry; 4 grandchildren: Mike and his wife Laura Stephenson, Aaron and wife Katie Stephenson, Kristina Preston, Jake and his wife Caren Elmore; 4 Great Grandchildren: Megan, Logan, Owen, Oliver; son-in-law Roger Stephenson. Besides her husband Neil she was preceded in death by her 2 daughters Diana Monck, and Christine Stephenson; 3 brothers: Eddie Van Zile, Pat Van Zile and Russ Van Zile. Graveside services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, November 11 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mattawan.
