Age 68, passed away February 16, 2018 at her home with her family at her side. Jewell was born November 10, 1949 in Kalamazoo. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and worked at a shipping/receiving clerk at WMU. Jewell was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Gould, step-father, Clarence Gould and by a brother, Wally Gould. Surviving are her husband of 31 years, Michael DeSmit; 4 children: Tami, Chad, Joshua and Rachel; 8 grandchildren; 4 siblings and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held Monday 2pm at the Betzler Life Story Funeral Home, 6080 Stadium Dr. Kalamazoo (269) 375-2900 with visitation beginning at 1pm.
