Carroll Sabin

Carroll Sabin, age 88 of Portage, passed away peacefully in his home on September 18, 2020. He was born in Ironwood, MI on March 10, 1932. He was the son of Joseph and Sarah Sabin. Carroll married Arlene Kivi on June 30, 1951. Carroll served in the National Guard and worked for Consumers Power Company for 28 years. Carroll’s first love was his family. He had a warm and generous heart and was always the first to volunteer to help his family and friends with whatever was needed. He was known to be an exceptional handyman who was an excellent dancer and had a great love of gospel music. Carroll was a gregarious man with a ready laugh, and personality that filled a room. He was beloved by all who knew him well. Carroll is survived by his wife Arlene Sabin; children, Vickey Sabin, David (Sue) Sabin, Dawn Andres; grandchildren, Tabitha Sabin, Brandi Munro, Austyn Sabin, Hannah Sabin, Rebecca Andres; great-grandchildren, Audrey Munro, Chloe Rea, Jakob Rea; brother David (Sherry) Sabin; many nieces and nephews; and special family, Rebecca Barnum, Alex Kantola, Tanner Novak. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Sarah, and his daughter, Paula Sabin. Following Carroll’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Donations in memory of Carroll may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
